Hello All, The Jimmy Byron Trio w/ Chris Staig and James McEleney had the pleasure of playing The Local, Roncesvalles, Toronto, ON. SAT, NOV 4 2017. It was a real treat to welcome back Mr. Staig, one of the hardiest working and busiest men in showbiz! Chris not only fronts his own band, Chris Staig and the Marquee Players, but is also the lead guitarist in The Parkdale Rebels. And what an honor to have another busy and talented lad, Mr. James McEleney (The Andrew Collins Trio) on upright. This marks the first time James and I have played together, and I'm sure it won't be the last! Here is a collection of photos and videos taken by Jennifer Schmitt Enjoy! JB BABY, SHE'S GONE (J. Scott) Written and recorded in 1957 by Canadian-American singer-songwriter, Jack Scott. Mr. Scott has always been a favorite of mine, this number in particular. I've been performing it live for nearly 20 years, and I never tire of it. GRABBA GUN (J.L. Byron) Written and recorded for 'Gentrify You' (2009) this song addresses the problems with the gun culture in the Unites States. PEARLY LEE (B. Riley) Written and recorded as the B-Side to "Red Hot" by Billy Lee Riley, for Sun Records in 1957. I had the pleasure of meeting and befriending Billy in 1999 while he was performing at a Beale Street Festival in Memphis, TN. We hit it off, and remained acquainted until he passed in 2009. He has been a very positive influence on my music, and I always think of him fondly when I sing this number at my live shows. Hello All, The Jimmy Byron Trio w/ Dave Haffey and Mitchell Thomson had the pleasure of playing Rod, Gun and Barbers:Junction, Toronto, ON. SAT, OCT 21 2017. It is a quaint little barbershop with a fully licensed bar as well. Here is a collection of photos taken by Jennifer Schmitt and Trek Willett. Enjoy! JB *Videos by Jennifer Schmitt. STUCK LIKE GLUE (J.L. Byron) Written and recorded as a demo in 1998, this little rockabilly-country number became a regular at live shows. It was re-recorded for the "Bathroom Sessions:Demos" (2000) and again for "The Singles" (2003) featuring Donnie Briggs (The Brunswicks/The In Crowd) on lead guitar and Bradley Scott Ber (Chicago Blues Angels/Hubert Sumlin)on upright bass. 'The Singles' version has been featured on Toronto's CIUT,FM and KCLN,FM often. TRAIN #37 (J.L. Byron) This number was also written and recorded as a demo in 1998, and re-recorded for the "Bathroom Sessions:Demos" (2000), however, it never made the list at live shows. In 2014, I dusted off this gem, changed the key and feel, and added it to the live set. It has now become a new fan favorite! ALISON ROSE (J.L. Byron) Written in 2000, this song never saw the light of day until I stumbled upon it while sorting through my old notebook in 2014. BIG BAD WOLF (J.L. Byron) Written and recorded for the "Bathroom Sessions:Demos" (2000), this song also never made the live show, or saw the light of day, until it was recorded for my latest album, "Transition" (2016). This jaunty number has since been recorded as an official live video at The Great Hall, Toronto by Dominique Van Olm, and is always a crowd pleaser at shows.
