Jimmy Byron: Transition
In 2009, Jimmy Byron released his debut album, Gentrify You, which explored the themes of gentrification and how it affects people. After three years in production, Jimmy is set to release his second album, Transition. Transition features a mix of rock n’ roll and blues, and with the addition of folk and classical instruments it expresses ideas about what happens to a community when corporate greed and massive layoffs (or the ‘transitioning’ of jobs) leave people in a vulnerable state, prone to poverty, mental health issues, and substance abuse. Written and produced by Jimmy Byron, the album welcomes back musicians Chris Staig, Dennis Mohammed (Jesse Cook), Josh Hicks (Taxi Chain), and Jack Breakfast, but also adds the wonderful sounds of Mitchell Thomson and David Poulin (The BelleRegards) on strings, Jim Bish (Taxi Chain) on saxophone, bluegrass/old time/country musicians Tony Allen, Frank Evans (Slocan Ramblers), and Burke Carroll, plus appearances by Andrew Penner (Sunparlour Players) to create an exciting dynamic of sound and storytelling. Beautifully mixed by Andrew Penner and mastered by Jeff “Fedge” Elliot, Transition is available on vinyl as well as CD and digital download. A show celebrating its release will take place at Junction City Music Hall, 2907 Dundas St W, Toronto on Friday, April 15th, 2016, at 10:00 p.m. $5 Track Listing 1. Mr. Mojo (The Cellophane Man) 2.
